If you don't understand the reluctance in giving you a completion date

understand most engineers have, at some point in their life, been ruthlessly and relentless harassed to provide a "best guess, just for planning purposes," only to find out their pure guess ends up written into the business plan and forms the basis of merit evaluations six months later.

So yeah, we are reluctant to ever give out any information unless we are absolutely sure.
